Santa reading by the fire

A Jolly Tale from Santa!

The Poem That Gave Me a Wink & a Nod

Ho ho ho! Gather ‘round, my merry friends, and let me tell you a tale—a rhyming wonder that helped stitch the very twinkle into my twinkling legend. It was way back in 1823 when a gentle professor named Clement Clarke Moore penned ’Twas the Night Before Christmas—though at the time, he kept his name hush-hush! Little did he know, his playful poem would become a sleighbell-sparkling part of Christmas forever.

Where My Belly Began to Jiggle

Before Clement’s clever quill danced across the page, I was more of a mysterious, shadowy figure with a changing face and many names. But once his poem hit the snowy streets, people began to see me more clearly—rosy cheeks, snowy beard, round belly (yes, it does shake like a bowl full of jelly), and a twinkle in my eye that could light the whole North Pole.

The Night Before Christmas

Reindeer, Sleigh Bells, & Stockings

Thanks to that poem and other books, my sleigh got sleeker, my reindeer got names (Dasher to Blitzen, of course), and my moonlit rooftop landings became legendary. Moore captured the joy, the magic, and the hush-hush thrill of Christmas Eve in a way that tickles even my oldest elves.

Still the Toast of the Toyshop

Even after two centuries, families still gather ‘round, cocoa in hand, to read that wondrous poem aloud. Every line dances like sugarplums across sleepy minds, and every rhyme keeps the sparkle of belief alive. It’s a tradition even I look forward to hearing in my sleigh between rooftops.

So here’s a tip from your jolly old friend in red: if you want to wrap your heart in Christmas cheer, start with this poem. It’s where my story truly began—and oh, what a magical beginning it was!
